We're in the news!

Happy is my latest hand-woven tapestry.
Happy is my latest hand-woven tapestry.

Greetings friends. Thank you for being here and being a part of my writing journey. I'm so grateful for you. Yesterday I was thrilled to learn that The Day, our local newspaper, was kind enough to post a story about our upcoming book launch. I'm over-the-moon excited about finally releasing my latest book, and I'll be celebrating with Hillary Gauvreau Oat this week for the launch of both our new releases at the Groton Public Library. If you're in the area, stop by. Here's the link to read the article.

Poetry from a Magic Cottage by the Sea is very special to me and is filled with poems that I've written over the years. I think it's safe to say that it was a healing project as I read material written at different times in my life. And as I went through those poems, discerning what to include, I recognized themes that I imagined everyone has in their own unique way. As my book makes its way into the hands of many, I am receiving messages about the favorite poem or poems that resonated with them in some deep way. I don't always get the whole story, but I am aware there is one there for them. It's such an honor to create something that resonates with people. And poems are the kind of thing that if one doesn't speak to you today, it just might tomorrow. That's the way poetry is.

One comment I have heard in the past is when folks express that they don't understand poetry or just plain don't like it, perhaps for that reason. That makes sense, as there is a lot of poetry that boggles the mind. And then there's the poetry that nudges the heart. Poetry from a Magic Cottage by the Sea is very clear to understand, yet at the same time, will be a different experience for every person who reads it. Poems connect us. To life, love, pain, healing, the earth and our place in it, creativity, God and faith, family, friends and all the things. So while every poem won't speak to everyone...today...a poem that is meant for you might resonate with you tomorrow, or the next day. I was encouraged to, "let the reader feel what they feel," and actually wrote a poem about it that I'll be reading on Thursday at our launch. It's called, "Poetry Unleashed."

When another poet's work moves me, I write it out or print it out and hang it over my desk to reflect on, to sit with. I have one there now that I've read over and over. A poet friend wrote it, and it's about poems and poetry. Things speak to us in different ways, at different times in our lives. The challenge is to listen.

Mercy by the Sea
Mercy by the Sea

Life led me over to Mercy by the Sea in Madison recently, and I'm beyond thrilled to say that both of my books, Synchronicity-Two Hearts, One Spirit, a Forbidden Love, and Poetry from a Magic Cottage by the Sea, are now available in their awesome little gift shop. As well as my hand-woven tapestries. And yes, I am aware that there should be an award for the longest book titles ever. I think I may be a contender for it, but I am challenging myself to title my third one differently. Synchronicity's sequel may perhaps have a one-word title. Stay tuned to see if that works out. The working title is very creatively called...drum roll...Synchronicity II. LOL. What can I say?

I have also challenged every crumb of technical ability within me to update my website. I lost my web designer to a man she calls her hubby now, so she has given up tending to my impossible self and my tech meltdowns. Can't say I blame her. But I'm on my own. Take a look around and if anything doesn't look right, feel free to drop me a line. I appreciate it. There are lots of people involved in publishing a book as there are with keeping a website up, so as with many things...it takes a village. I welcome your suggestions.

Until next time...

God bless you, and wishing you much peace on this journey we call life. Keep creating.

Patty
