Poetry from a Magic Cottage by the Sea, is an inspired collection of lyrical and haiku poetry. Many of the poems reflect themes of life like love, loss, healing, faith, writing and weaving, creativity, shoreline living, and just the stuff of being alive. Sometimes a haiku is all you need, short and poignant. Other poems might make you laugh, or connect with something going on in your own life.
It wouldn’t be mine if there wasn’t a connection to Cape Cod, so there are those as well. Many poems are inspired by the beauty of the Cape brought to life in my novel, Synchronicity-Two Hearts, One Spirit, a Forbidden Love. I consider this collection a bit like a dance of the spirit, woven together to create a tapestry of life. May I have this dance? ~Patty
Two restless, mid-life seekers escape to Cape Cod to discern their futures and find themselves. But as fate would have it, they find each other. One is grieving a loss, the other is about to create one. Synchronicity is a story about relationships and the human condition that makes them so very messy and meaningful, especially as we get older. It’s about God, commitments, unexpected blessings, and being vulnerable to love of all kinds.
Both Seth and Anna are deeply faithful, and while serendipity brings them together on the beach, they each struggle with decisions about their future. Their only certainty is that they love God and the church. Can they allow themselves to love each other too? Religion and romance wrestle in this tension-filled, emotional, and sometimes humorous story. Two hearts, and one spirit, on a journey fraught with uncertainty and the most forbidden love that can exist.
About the Author
Patricia Ann Chaffee is an author, award-winning writer, and published poet from the Connecticut shoreline who considers Cape Cod her second home. Spirituality is central to her life, as it is in the lives of the characters in her book. She began creating the journey of Seth and Anna over a decade ago, from prompts at a writing group. Two years ago she took that pile of hand-written material that had amassed, and finally wrote an inspired romance novel called Synchronicity ~ Two Hearts, One Spirit, a Forbidden Love.
Poetry from a Magic Cottage by the Sea came to fruition when her writing group challenged/encouraged her to put together a collection of poetry that she’d written over decades and precious few had seen the light of day. She celebrates life by the ocean, loves all things simple, spiritual, quiet, and creative, and is now working diligently on the sequel to Synchronicity.
